The team of W. F. Cox and Mike Tompkins of Leasburg, NC took top honors in the season opener at Lake Mayo on March 22 with a 6 fish limit weighing 21.26 lbs.  W. F. and Mike anchored their creel with the tournament lunker, a 6.82 pounder.  W. F. and Mike netted $1295 for their great catch.

Robbie Kennon of Ruffin, NC and Chuck Morton of Danville, NC were tournament runner-ups with a 6 fish limit weighing 17.24 lbs, earning them $552 for the day. 

Robert and Bill Berry rounded out the top three with a 6 fish limit tipping the scales at 17.06 pounds for $210.

Finishing 4^th was Donnie Lowe of Mebane, NC and Randy Fisher of Hillsboro, NC, with a 6 fish limit weighing 17.00 pounds and $105.

Ray Witt and Kevin Steward of Eden, NC finished 5^th with 5 fish weighing 16.58 lbs for $80.

Greg Campbell of Thomasville, NC and Don Underhill of Greensboro, NC were 6^th place finishers with a 6 fish limit weighing 16.26 pounds for $80.
