*Important Information about the February 27th Tournament at Buggs Island*
Gentlemen and Ladies Due to the extreme weather that the Commonwealth of Virginia is recieving this winter I am going to re-schedule the February 27th Buggs Island Tournament to Saturday April 3rd for the following reasons. The amount of debris that is floating in Kerr right now is far beyond what we would consider safe operating conditions for our anglers. After weeks of flooding in the South Central part of Virginia the water is a mess. Kerr is also very high right now and muddy. I have recieved opinions from the folks at Occeneechee State Park as well as the locals at the bait and tackle shops in the area. They advised me that the inflow and outflow rates for water will not make a difference by the end of the month with this weekends storm and several others that are lined up behind this one. I wanted to give our anglers as much time to cancel reservations or make alternate arrangements for that weekend. Your safety and overall enjoyment is a priority for me as I direct this trail and make it as good as I can for all of you. We looked at as many dates as we could and to avoid as many conflicts as possible, this was the only weekend that I could come up with to stay away from all of the other tournament circuits that our anglers are participating in. My next option would have been to go to a Sunday or go into July which I did not want to do because fish mortality rates tend to increase in the hot summer months. I understand that this is Easter weekend but the general consensus was that our participants enjoy fishing this weekend as many are already off for Good Friday and will use this as a practice day, our largest tournament that we have had since I have been the Tournament Director was on Easter Weekend at Smith Mtn. I think this will be a good fit for the majority of our anglers and should make for some really good fishin at Buggs. Let me say up front that if this creates a hardship for any of our participants I apoligize now for it but the last thing that I would want you to do is to be running down Kerr and hit a tree in the water that you can not see because of the muddy water and risk injury or damage to your boat. I also would like to have a big weigh in as well and I believe that the chances of that would be greater in warmer water than muddy water that is 38 degrees. In closing I would like to ask for your help in spreading the word and encourage as many of our folks to sign up for e-mail updates. Also I would like to remind you that we have our Open House next weekend at Anglers Choice and would like to invite everybody to come by and see Hank Parker, Forrest Wood, Guy Eaker and Rick Morris. There will be many vendors there and some great barbecue for lunch so get out and break that cabin fever and come spend the day with us at Anglers Choice. See you on the water!!
