We are still having the tournament tomorrow March 8th.
Registration begins at 6am.
Parkway Marina will have biscuits and coffee.
To All Anglers:
I must say that today is a bad day to be a Tournament Director and I wish that we had the powers to be to control Mother Nature. Unfortunately we do not and I have had to make a decision based on the information that is given to me and make one that benefits the majority of our anglers. We are going to have the first tournament of the 2014 season tomorrow at Smith Mtn. Lake. I know that there are some of our friends that will not make it due to road conditions in your area. I would not expect you to come if you felt that the conditions were not right to make the trip. I hope that you will use good judgment in that matter. Once the storm system moved through the sun has come out and warmed up nicely so to our friends further east it is on the way. Everything to the west has melted off and it did not take very long for that to happen. I do want to let you know that we will do everything that we can to accommodate your needs, just let us know and we will work with you. A couple of things that I want you to know:
1. I will keep registration open after we launch tomorrow morning in the event you are running behind due to your travel. (Some people planned to come up today but could not get here) I will launch the field at 8:00 A.M. and then get you in as fast as we can.
2. Parkway Marina is ready for us and they have advised me that all roads are cleared of any snow and people have been putting in all day today. Parkway will also have Coffee and Biscuits tomorrow morning.
3. I am looking at the idea of hosting a Wildcard Tournament at Smith Mtn as a NON-POINTS tournament but count it as a qualifier so the anglers that are not able to make it tomorrow will still have a chance to get their qualifier in toward the Classic. I would like to entertain some thoughts on this. Possibly a Sunday so it does not interfere with tournament schedules that are already in place.
4. Anyone that does not check in tomorrow morning with me I will remove you from the tournament field so we can move your entry fee to another tournament.
5. All weather reports say that you may be shoveling snow today and battling sun burn tomorrow, we have many anglers at the lake already and for those reasons I have decided to go ahead with the tournament.
To all of our friends to the east if you do not make it up tomorrow we will miss seeing you and make the right decision about tomorrow’s tournament wherever you are. I will make sure that you get what you need and assist you the best I can. The sun has come out and it is headed your way…
Read the Latest Tournament News BelowWelcome to the 2014 season of the Anglers Choice Invitational Team Tournament Trail. As snow continues to fly and our winter seems to still be in full swing, the first tournament of 2014 is right around the corner! I must admit that the scheduling of the 2014 season has been a nightmare, especially when I tried my hardest to schedule around all of the other fishing opportunities that are out there. I try very hard to find the weekends that are not taken by another series but it is just impossible to do. Plus when you factor in two divisions and the overall size of the Anglers Choice Invitational Team Tournament Trail it is impossible to make it work for everybody. One thing that we are able to do is keep most of our tournaments on the lakes that the majority of our anglers like to fish. We are excited about the addition of Falls Lake to the schedule this year. We did have to change the ramp location for this tournament to Ledgerock Boat Ramp after we received information from some of our friends down in the Raleigh area. The schedule has been a 4 month process since I started this back in October.
A couple of changes for the 2014 season include the new Toyota Tundra Team Championship sponsored by B.A.S.S. It is exciting to know that one of our anglers may have the opportunity to fish in the 2015 Bassmasters Classic. Details of this program can be found on our web page at www.anglerschoicemarine.com. We will have 2 Classic contests this year where we will give away 2 boats. A new Ranger boat, motor, and trailer on the Virginia Division and a new Triton boat, motor, and trailer in the Carolina Division. To qualify for one of the Classics you must fish in 4 of the qualifying tournaments (you may pick which Classic you want to fish in). If you fish in 6 of the qualifying tournaments you can fish in both of the Classic Tournaments. As in 2013, we will have 2 weekends at Kerr Lake where anglers can get 4 qualifying tournaments under their belt in only 2 weekends. Our anglers really like this opportunity and it helps cut down on expenses for our fishermen. We hope this will be good for everybody.
We are very happy that Jiffy Automotive will step up to the plate again and sponsor our points championship in the overall Trail this year. We had to re-think the way our points championship will run for 2014 since B.A.S.S. only recognizes us as one Trail. Details of our points championship can be found on the tournament website. Please try to support our great sponsors and let them know how much you appreciate them being a part of the Anglers Choice Team Tournament Trail. Jiffy Automotive will also do the Jiffy Bucks for 2014 season and Anglers Choice will be doing Anglers Bucks at the Carolina Division tournaments so make sure you stay for the entire awards presentation and see if your name is called for some free money. This prize is given to two teams that did not finish in the money at the end of each tournament as long as you have an Anglers Choice/ Jiffy Automotive sticker displayed on the windshield of your boat you will qualify to win some free $money$. Make sure you get your sticker on your boat and be eligible for this prize. Thanks again to Phillip VanDerVeer and Jiffy Automotive for sponsoring this prize. We are working on other sponsorship deals for the 2014 season that you will see at all of our tournaments. We will be welcoming several new bait sponsors and welcome back some old friends to help make our raffles some of the best around. I would also like to welcome Missile Baits to the trail this year, they will be the title sponsor of our year end plaques as well as donating baits for each tournament.
Don’t forget to pre-register for our trail. If you do not know which tournaments you will be able to fish, go ahead and contact Tonya (1-800-632-4665) at the dealership to get your paperwork on file so we do not have to do that at the tournament site. This saves an enormous amount of time for registration and reduces long lines. Plus it helps me get you on the water and fishing on time. We can plan for food a whole lot easier if we know how many are coming so please pre-register. All of the required forms that you need are located on the tournament website. If you do not pre-register go ahead and print those off and have them filled out when you arrive at the ramp. You only have to do this one time each year, once they are on file you will only need to register from that point on. Also, if you have not registered to be a part of the Toyota Tundra Team Championship, you need to do that before you fish your first qualifying tournament. You can do this by contacting Tonya at the dealership. AGAIN THIS MUST BE DONE BEFORE YOU FISH YOUR FIRST TOURNAMENT… It is a one-time $10 per person fee and it is a great opportunity so please take advantage of it.
