Wow! What a great start to the brand new Carolina Division of the 2013 Anglers Choice Team tournament Trail. We had 43 teams to show up and people seemed to be having a great time with one exception, the fish did not show up. It was a very difficult day on Highrock Lake with muddy cold water the fish certainly acted as though they were still a little cold from the winter. Never the less it was great seeing some old faces and welcoming some new ones to the Anglers Choice family. We also had to have one of the largest crowds to ever witness one of our weigh-ins and as usual the staff did a great job and everybody was impressed. It was kind of unusual only weighing in 43 teams I might say when you are used to over 200. The Carolina side of the trail will grow just like Virginia did. Pre-registrations for the Gaston tournament is already larger than our first tournament at Highrock on the Carolina side.

Congratulations to our winners Justin Goodyear and Tony Waterhouse, they had 3 fish that weighed 10.16 lbs. Combined with winning Ranger Cup Bonus Money they took home over $2100.00, not a bad weekend. In 2nd place was the team of Terry James and Kevin Chandler, they had 4 fish that weighed 9.96lbs. Big fish honors went to Brad and Adam Younts who had a Largemouth that weighed 5.92 lbs. There was only 30 fish weighed in for the whole tournament so you can imagine that it was quite a tough day on Highrock Lake.

Now we move on to lake Gaston which is setting up to be a big weekend for both the Virginia and Carolina Divisions of the ACTTT. On Saturday March 23rd we will kick the weekend off with the Virginia side of the trail and will follow that the following day (March 24) with a Carolina Division Tournament. Both tournaments will take place at Americamps and pre-registration is already big in both divisions 2 weeks out. If you have not pre-registered please do so, it helps us tremendously with planning and keeps the lines down the morning of the tournaments. It will take a little longer to get the boats in the water at Gaston so plan accordingly. We will be set up to check you in and take registrations around 5 a.m. the morning of the tournaments.

I would also like to invite everybody that can come to Smith Mountain Lake on Saturday March 30th to fish a tournament to benefit Special Olympics. We do several things throughout the course of the year for special Charities such as Saint Jude’s Children’s Hospital and Special Olympics. I will be running a tournament for Special Olympics and it should be a great tournament. The tournament will be at Parkway Marina and the Virginia State Police (Todd Taylor) has been working very hard on getting sponsors for this tournament. Blast off will be at 7:00 a.m. and there will be many door prizes for the raffle at the end of the tournament.

I hope everybody has a good two weeks, I am looking forward to having a weekend off from traveling to tournaments and open houses. Let’s remember our families and thank those people that you know that gives us the opportunity to be weekend warriors on the water.

Best Wishes,

Chris
